1. Our HIPAA Status
WorkOccMed Medical Group, PLLC is a HIPAA Covered Entity. We directly provide clinical services — DOT and non-DOT physical examinations, drug and alcohol testing coordination, and related occupational health care — and we create, receive, and maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) in the course of that care.
WorkOccMed LLC, our administrative and scheduling affiliate, acts as a HIPAA Business Associate to WorkOccMed Medical Group, PLLC and to employer clients for functions such as online scheduling, consortium/random-testing program administration, invoicing, and coordination with our network of certified collection sites and laboratories. A Business Associate Agreement governs how WorkOccMed LLC may use and disclose PHI on the practice's behalf.
This is not a conditional or "where applicable" status — it applies to every patient and driver whose testing or examination we coordinate.
